Airlines of Switzerland

Switzerland is the home of several airlines. Many of them are operating in the charter business and others are offering regular services within Europe.

Until the grounding of Swissair on 2 October 2001 and the subsequent bankruptcy of the airline , the Swiss civil aviation used to be focus on the Statecarrier "Swissair". However that company reduced their operations in Geneva in the mid-nineties of the last centuary, which caused the French-speaking part of Switzerland to look alternative carriers. This might explain the number of other Swiss carriers operating from Geneva.

The following companies offer flights with aircraft of more than 30 seats. Most of them were founded only in the last decade:

Belair (now part of Air Berlin)

Darwin Airlines

EasyJet Switzerland

Edelweiss Airlines

Farnair

Helvetic Airways

Hello

Ju-Air

Privat Air

SkyWork Airlines

Swiss Intl Airlines
