Emmen

General Situation

Situated north of Lucerne, Emmen is currently mainly used by the Swiss Air Force as training base. The eastern side of the base is owned by RUAG where the Hawk and the F-18C/D "Hornet" were built.

Description

Coming from Lucerne, leave the motorway at the Exit "Emmen-Sued" and take a left. Then follow the blue signs toward Zurich. After some 4 lights and 2 km, the base will be on the left hand side.

General Tips/Interesting Visitors

Normally, one can expect to see F-5s as the aerobatic team "Patrouille Suisse" is based here. Besides the jets, Pilatus PC-7 and Pilatus PC-9 can also be watched.
The south end of the runway has a small car par which is highly recommended. Photography is possible from there with 50 – 70 mm lens.

Frequencies

The tower frequency is 120.475 MHz

Recent Experiences

Flight activity has become very light. Currently, one could expect 4 to 5 jet activities per day.

Remarks
