The Swiss Air Force retired its three Junkers Ju-52 aircraft in 1981. This caused the Association of the Friends of the Swiss Air force to start a fund raising campaign which eventually resulted in CHF 600’000. This amount was used to covert the former military aircraft for civil operations.
Regular sightseeing trips from Dubendorf began in 1983. More than 5’500 enthusiastic passengers were counted in the first year. Only four years later one aircraft – HB-HOS suffered an accident at Koblenz Airport. Fortunatly no-one was hurt. The aircraft got back into service in 1988.
In 1997 another Junkers Ju-52 aircraft HB-HOY is added to the fleet. Actually, it is a Spanish built Casa 352.
