Hochgebirgs-Landekurs

Flying in Alpine areas is demanding not just for the helicopters but also for the pilots who have to cope with a generally reduced performance of their equipment as well as with lack of oxygen and psychological effects when being confronted with vertical rock faces and enormous precipices. Each Austrian helicopter pilot has to undergo a high altitude landing training cours (Hochgebirgs-Landekurs) during which the precise selection of landing areas and the good approch will be trained.
